Lifestyle

The greatest influence upon our health - positive or negative - is our 21st century lifestyle.

It has the most direct effect on the risk of contracting avoidable degenerative, and life-shortening diseases. This can be through poor nutrition or, increasingly nowadays, becoming overweight or obese.

The consequenses of this can be development of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.

If a healthier life is desired, one's whole lifestyle must be addressed. 

This is the essence of personal (or rather, 'personalised') health and fitness training.

All aspects of one's life must be dealt with -

daily activity, exercise, stress, nutrition, psychological health, social relationships, support etc.

Initially, the psychological aspect needs to be addressed.

If one's desire for change comes from within, there is a genuine chance of success.

Focussing on support, 'self-efficacy' (self-help) and coping with relapse are essential strategies for success.

This requires lifestyle management and counselling.
