Exercise and chronic diseases/disabilities

Few medical conditions prevent participation in some form of exercise. People with chronic diseases or disabilities can regularly take part in supervised, adapted exercise programmes to maintain or improve their functional ability and quality of life.

Tai Chi and Qigong are particularly useful and accessible forms of gentle exercise for anyone with a debilitating disease or disability. Exercises can be easily adapted to suit ability.

With other incurable or degenerative conditions, such as Parkinson's

Disease or Multiple Sclerosis, supervised adapted exercise can help maintain a degree of functional ability and quality of life.
